About Urban Shots

Urban Shots (metromanilaphotos.hub.ph) is a collection of different city sceneries or urban lanscapes within Metro Manila, Philippines.  Buildings, skyscappers, open parks and other assorted views are featured in this photoblog. I enjoy looking at city landscapes so I took shots of them whenever I see a beautiful view and store them in my computer. Now, I’m exhibiting it here for everyone to see.

At first, I used Aiptek Mini T250GL and the camera that comes with Nokia N80 mobile phone. I just shot any beautiful views I happen to pass by. Eventually, I opted to make photography one of my hobbies, intentionally going to different places just to shot pictures and nothing else. I also switched to Cannon PowerShot A480 to produce higher quality images (but not the same level of quality as DSLR cameras). I will try to get a higher quality camera in the future but I don’t intent to carry those big DLSR cameras used by professional photographers unless a client paid me to take a shot of their property. I tend to walk over long distance, hence, small cameras are more suitable for this hobby.

I hope through this website, I will be noticed by real estate developers, brokers, architects, building owners, urban planners, or anyone who needs a picture of a building or an urban landscape, and eventually get some freelance photography jobs from them. About the webmaster/owner

This website/photoblog and all photos in it are owned by me, Greten Vicke Estella. I personally took them using my own digital cameras. This website is my first attempt to infiltrate professional photography.

I am a former freelance website developer doing mostly WordPress-based websites. I also have professional background in the fields of science education and graphic design. I recently decided to go back to science education by working as an e-learning specialist in one of the biggest textbook publishing house in the Philippines; a work that also allows me to use some of what I know from making websites.

Aside from providing content to this photoblog and hoping to get some photography gigs, my other motivation for this hobby is to have some sort of exercise. I walk long distance when doing this hobby (imagine walking from Market Market! to Forbes Town Center in Bonifacio Global City, or walking with University of the Philippines Campus from Katipunan Ave. to Commonwealth Ave.). I easily lose my motivation in gyms and I find it difficult to give up chocolate. Hence, this hobby allows me to hit two birds with one stone.
